Project Kids' Table

I did something pretty stupid yesterday. I cleaned the kids' table from Ikea with bleach. I do it to my kitchen table (also Ikea) all the time. But the little table is obviously  WAY lower quality, because it started to strip the paint, creating this weird mottled pattern:

I couldn't stand it. And while I have plans to get some oil cloth and actually cover the table, I needed a quick fix. Enter scrapbook paper and clear contact paper, and this is what we now have:

The edges aren't wrapped perfectly, and there's a seam down the middle, but it's a million times better than what was going on before. Do you have a great idea for spiffing up a table? I'd love to hear it!

what was the contact paper you put on top?

I just used a clear roll of contact paper that I had on hand. I got it at Target in the aisle where they sell shelf liners.

Brilliant idea! Good job...now they can draw on it and everything! I think I'll do that to my round table...maybe.

Such a cute idea! I wonder if you could seal the top with some resin glue?!

Magical how they all fit perfectly! Or did you cut the paper to fit?
