Goodnight, Moon

Moonlight is sculpture. —Nathaniel Hawthorne

Some nights when I (finally) climb into bed, I am kept awake by a light that is coming straight through a small space between the window and curtain. It's the moon. I was so surprised the first night it happened, that I stared at it for a good 15 minutes. What were the chances that the moon would be visible through that small space, only from the vantage point of my pillow? It felt like a gift. Last night it happened again, so I took a photo with my iPhone. It only registers as this small pinpoint of light. It reminds me of a pinhole camera. I love the idea of the moon, looking in on me, sending me a "goodnight."

Lynds, I do that same thing. Sometimes I go outside and stare if the moon is full. I love how it lights up the night.

By the way .... Good Night Moon -- it pangs my heart. Miss those days with my little ones -- who aren't so little anymore.

Have you ever read the children's book called "The Moon Jumpers". It is one of my favorites.

All I can see shinning through my windows are the street lights... but the moon sounds lovely!

Hello! My kids are always asking how come the moon follows them when we travel in a car at night?! They can't work it out...so cute. There's nothing like a full moon though, where it streams in. I like this whimsical post :-)

Very lovely post! I love it when the moon shines through my windows at night, too. We have solar screens on so it really has to be a bright moon on a clear night to permeate, but I love it when it happens. Kind of reminds me of just how small we are in this great big world, and of all the amazing things God put into and around our planet.
