We're Baaaaaa-aaaaack....

"But, Lyndsay," you say. "Aren't you supposed to still be on your super cool and fun road trip with the family through California?" Yes, yes blog readers, I am. But Finn and I got sick, and discovered that a 15 month old sick baby on a road trip is the most preposterous idea imaginable. :)

So here we are, home again. It was fun while it lasted. But I have learned a few things about toddlers on a road trip...

FINN DOESN'T MIX WITH:
• Fine dining (of the tablecloth and white napkin variety).
• 13 hour stints in a carseat, no matter how cushy that seat is.
• Extensive wine tasting outings (granny and granddad are quite the wine connoisseurs).
• Being in an umbrella stroller too long, only able to see tourist knees.
• Super windy drives down from the highest mountain in Livermore.
• Not being able to actually swim in the large fountain, or dive into the ocean that is clearly there for the sheer purpose of entertaining, and soaking, Finn.
• Green beans.
• Geyser mist ("pissed from the mist").
• Lost pacifiers (yes, we are still enabling that addiction).
• Pack and Plays (only Mom's bed, please).
• The application of sunscreen (woah, what a wiggly little guy!).
• Being sick and confined to a hotel room (even if the hotel room is a very nice one at the retro Flamingo hotel in Santa Rosa).
• Being away from Daddy too long.

Here are some of the highlights from our trip:

Sleepy boy on the ferry from Sausalito (back to San Fran).

Gorgeous wine country!

This picture looks EXACTLY like baby Wes.

My Dad and his cousin, Rheba. And yes, that is a t-shirt that says "My Cousin is the Mayor of Bisbee, AZ" (my Uncle Dan, that is).

Finn and Rheba bird watching.

Finn and Frog.

Gotta have a stylish portrait made atop Mount Diablo.

The fated road trippers. Don't we all look so happy and healthy?

Admittedly, California has officially won me over with it's beauty! I wish I had more photographs to share. We're still going to take a jaunt down to Bisbee, AZ to visit the aforementioned Uncle Dan and Aunt Carol. We'll get all rested up and ready for the road again!

Glad you made it home,.....sorry you guys were not feeling good.
But can I just say that the photo of Finn asleep on grandpa is about the most precious thing!!! I have one of Jess when she was 1, asleep on her "mat" with her Papa Mike(my dad) asleep next to her and even though she is 17, I still have that photo framed on the bookcase...much to her chagrin!

oh no. Sorry you two got sick. That's a yucky way to spend a road trip. I'm sure Daddy was glad to have Finn back a little early though.

I love your wine country picture. It looks lovely there. And your stylish pic is fab!

I am sorry that you guys weren't feeling good - but I am SO glad you are home (and I am sure Wes is really glad too). ;) I have been having a lot of baby dreams, and you haven't been here to interpret them. I miss you!
