A Mother's Song

I've been MIA for a week, haven't I? We've had visitors, and I've been tired and busy. But I also have some great photos coming soon. In the mean time, I thought I'd share something else. Maya was watching Disney Junior when this beautiful poem came on. I recognized the reader's voice, but had never heard this poem. It's so beautiful. Moms, I dare you not to tear up.

Mother's Song
a Traditional Lullaby(read by Jennifer Garner)

My heart is like a fountain true
That flows and flows with love to you.
As chirps the lark unto the tree
So chirps my pretty babe to me.

There's not a rose where'er I seek,
As comely as my baby's cheek.
There's not a comb of honey-bee,
So full of sweets as babe to me.

There's not a star that shines on high,
Is brighter than my baby's eye.
There's not a boat upon the sea,
Can dance as baby does to me.

No silk was ever spun so fine
As is the hair of baby mine.
My baby smells more sweet to me
Than smells in spring the elder tree.

A little fish swims in the well,
So in my heart does baby dwell.
A little flower blows on the tree,
My baby is the flower to me.

The Queen has sceptre, crown and ball,
You are my sceptre, crown and all.
For all her robes of royal silk,
More fair your skin, as white as milk.

Ten thousand parks where deer do run,
Ten thousand roses in the sun,
Ten thousand pearls beneath the sea,
My babe more precious is to me.

P.S. As I was typing this, thinking about my beautiful, perfect daughter, she was sticking things waaaaay up her nose. I had to fish them out with tweezers, while she sneezed and screamed. It was a really special moment.

LOL! What is it with kids sticking things up their nose?! Reminds me of the time I caught Luke trying to shove a Trix up his. Was he trying to save it for later?

Baaa Haaa Haaaa. That is so funny. My sister did that with some berries. My mom had to use a straw to suck them out -- they were that far up her nose. So gross. The things you do as a mom, huh!

Loved the poem.
